642 Things To Draw
Typically on Tuesdays, we write about marketing tips in some form or fashion, so at first glance, this post might seem slightly off the mark. But, what was just a fun and very thoughtful birthday gift from Marci has turned into a really terrific kickstarter for bright ideas.
Meet 642 Things to Draw! (they coulda used a brainstorming session to jazz up that title a bit.) This collection of blank canvasses is great for folks who like to dabble in drawing, yet this sketch book has evolved into much more than a hobby for the DMA team.
Often, we’ll start meetings with a few minutes of quiet drawing. We flip through until someone yells “STOP!” and then we blindly pick a subject that will be that meeting’s muse. Rather than just sketching the literal subject, however, we’ve cranked up the creative notch and aim to illustrate off-the-wall interpretations instead. Case in point, the following examples:
The results of this seemingly silly “game” have been much more productive brainstorming sessions and skyrocketing creativity. When you force yourself to be/do/create the unexpected and extraordinary, you’ll find that your ideas start trending that way as well. And in a business where creativity is key, unexpected is a very, very good thing.
