Office Eats: A New Series for Hungry People at Work

There is nothing better than the smell of something cooking throughout the office (minus burnt popcorn).  At DMA, we’ve been known to follow our noses and the smell of bacon up three floors to find the source.

Now that we’ve moved into our new digs, we have a brand new play place for cooking; our very own kitchen.  Watch out, Core readers!  We’re armed and ready with new appliances, utensils and ideas to prepare and share inspired lunches and snacks for the office eater right here at DMA.  Who says that Guy Fieri has the best job on Earth?  We have and will continue to cook and consume our very own creations right here in our office – and now we’ll document it all.  Successes, failures, dishes that pop and those that flop – we will regularly report on our Office Eats.

First up, Grilled Chicken & Veggie Panini a la Brock:

The Ingredients:

The Equipment:

The Process & Prep Time:

  • Simply slice the zucchini and bell pepper into thin strips/slices, sprinkle with salt and pepper and broil in the Breville for 7-9 minutes (depending on how firm you like your veggies)
  • Spread the Laughing Cow onto one slice of bread and pile deli chicken on another slice
  • Once the veggies are done to your liking, place a few zucchini slices and pepper strips on the cheese half of the sandwich (makes the cheese nice and melty – yes, melty)
  • Introduce half A to half B and, voila! Grilled Chicken & Veggie Panini

Tips & Lessons:

  • 1 zucchini and 1 bell pepper make enough grilled veggies for 4 or 5 sandwiches
  • You could achieve true Panini-ness by toasting the constructed sandwich in the Breville
  • Smells wonderful and is delicious, with almost rave-level reviews all around

Let us know what you think of these Office Eats and we’ll be back with another offering soon.  Wish us luck and happy office eating!

  4. I think the office eats is a terrific idea ! I’ve got quit an easy wrap recipe that will increase your veggies & taste good ! Here goes ! Take 2 leaves of any chard ( rainbow , red or regular ) cut spine out of leaf ( the thick part of leaves ) Place on a pc of Tin foil ( to wrap later with ). Put hummus on leaves ( 2 tbsp) evenly , Avacado 1/2 , slices of pepper , onion , cucumber. I like to add pico de Gaio , and then wrap tin foil around so it’s easier to eat ! You can be quit creative with putting chicken , healthy coleslaw in there as well . Healthy coleslaw coming soon! So pleasantly surprised at how good this was ! Give it a try.

  5. My husband and I own a family business and we rarely if ever go out to eat. So, I bring lunch since most of the employees are my sons! We have an original George Foreman grill that does paninis and quesadillas perfectly. I pre-assemble them at home and finish them off once it’s lunch time. We do have a refrigerator, toaster oven and microwave. I bring a medium size crockpot often with leftovers warming up. Several years ago, my cholesterol dropped dramatically – only thing different in my eating was that we weren’t eating OUT!

Love this idea you have here.
