Continuing Our Resolve And…

The FRESH Team, 12 climbers strong, included, in addition to DMA Team Members: friends and family of DMA, Jarrod Snider of Frontera Produce, and Shelly Fryer and Gina Miller, teachers at Ditto Elementary, a local school we’re working to place a Salad Bar in. Our climbers had all different levels of physical experience, but we pushed our hearts, and each other, to the limit, supporting one another the entire way up. After the last flight was conquered, The FRESH Team had raised a total of $4,017 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
We are so excited that our year of giving kicked off with such success! We’d like to include YOU, Core Readers, in our philanthropic outreach. Through March 1, 2012, we will be taking your suggestions for one of the charitable causes The FRESH Team gets behind this year. Leave a comment below, on our Facebook page, or tweet us the group you’d like to nominate and we will announce the winning organization in March!

Hi everyone, for the charity I would like to suggest is a charity called Amman Imman which helps the people who live in the Asawak culture which is in the dryest part of Africa. This month at school we are donating money to the charity because these people have no clean water and to find water the children have to walk maybe 35 miles to find it and it is brown and gross. They are pastorial nomads which are people who move around with there cattle and don’t leave them behind. The rainy season there only lasts one to two months, they have to move every three days to find more water and in dry season they have to move everyday. Since they don’t have clean water lots of them die for example one out of three kids die before the age of five. Why we are donating money is because they can dig wells for water, because the desert is rich in water but it is 600 to 3,000 feet under the ground and it is completely clean. please think about having Amman Imman the charity you support that would really mean the world to me.
Love,
Mackey

Hi Mackey! Thanks a ton for the suggestion. Amman Imman sounds like a terrific cause to support – and one that I wasn’t even aware of until your comment. We often take for granted the very things that are considered luxuries in other places and I, for one, feel like supporting this cause would help us to empathize with those who are much less fortunate. Stay tuned! The FRESH Team may draw your suggestion as one of our charities of choice in 2012. Thanks again for broadening my horizons and being such a cool young lady!
