What We’re Reading: Lean In by Sheryl Sandberg

If you don’t have a copy of Sheryl Sandberg’s new book titled, “Lean In”, I highly recommend that you pick up a copy before your next cup of coffee on the patio, book club or flight. Sheryl is an amazing writer (and oh, by the way, is the COO of a little company called Facebook) and her words are moving, compelling and funny.

From the beginning of the book, Sheryl convinces you that she is as real as she is convicted to her passion to encourage women to “lean in” and live life doing what it is that you truly were meant to and want to do, without fear and without boundaries. (more…)

Hacking: GoDaddy's Apology

If you were unable to connect to your favorite foodie blog or athletic message board to rant about the weekend games on Monday, you weren’t alone. Go Daddy’s servers went down early this week, leaving a large chunk of their customers’ websites at the mercy of Go Daddy’s tech team.

DMA and The Core were directly affected by this situation – we experienced an outage lasting over 6 hours! (Yikes!) But ironically, I want to take this time to applaud Go Daddy. I always get excited when I see a company knock it out of the park when handling a crisis situation. (more…)

Packaging Pageant

As Fresh Summit 2012 quickly approaches, mark your calendars for a big event that’s certainly easy on the eyes.  It’s pageant season in the world of produce and floral marketing!  And, no, we haven’t completely lost it.  One of our favorite showcases of excellence, The PMA Impact Award, which recognizes bold new concepts in produce and floral packaging, could be considered our industry’s equivalent of a beauty pageant.  But, we’re talking more Miss America (beauty AND brains) and less Toddlers & Tiaras (screaming tantrums) here.  “Pageantry” aside, as marketers, we know and appreciate the value of this type of validation and exposure.
